5 Tips to Start Losing Weight Now

Do you struggle with losing weight? Maybe a few tips would help you know where to start?

When it comes to losing weight there are no magic pills, wraps or formulas.  Losing weight and feeling better is about changing your habits and creating a new lifestyle. I know as busy moms we often lack patience in this area of our lives. Mainly because we deeply desire to feel better and look better so we are willing to do whatever it takes to get started. But often, we aren’t willing to do whatever it takes to keep going! Having success in this area of your life is all about consistency! Small changes over time done consistently will lead to big SUCCESS!

Here are 4 ways to start changing your lifestyle and see results fast! 

TIP #1 DRINK MORE WATER

In general, the United States is addicted to drinking regular and diet drinks. “Drinks”, as we refer to them in the south, are full of carbonation and sugar. The carbonation leads to bloating and inflammation and the sugar, well it’s as addicting as a drug. I don’t need to tell you that you NEED to get yourself off of drinks, especially diet drinks. But how?

Slowly ween yourself off.  Instead of drinking Diet Coke 3-4 times a day, move over to drinking them 1 time a day and then drinking sparkling water in between. Do this for 4-5 weeks. Then slowly move to drinking only sparkling water, and once a day drinking water. Then from there, move to drinking only water, flavored with lemon or lime or other fruit.  Small changes over an 8 week period will help you be successful.

#2 CLOSE THE KITCHEN

Snacking after 9pm in the evening is not a good idea.  You don’t want to undo your workout from earlier in the day.  So what do you do? Put nails around

the door or duck tape over your mouth? No of course not, but you do need to adjust how you are eating in the evening. Based on the time you plan to go to bed close the kitchen! Yep! Close it up! So if you plan to go to bed at 10 then stop eating at 7pm. If you plan to go to bed at 9:00, then plan not to eat after 6:00pm.  So no snacking, wine, sweet or crunchy foods. This allows your digestive system to rest and take a break.  You will wake up feeling better and with a flatter stomach too!

 

 

#3 No NEGATIVE Self-Talk

This is a hard one for me. I’m more of a “glass half full” girl myself. Can you relate? But the reality is, if you keep telling yourself that you won’t be successful or you’re gonna to fail one more time, then you are just making your own “self-fulfilling prophesy”.  It’s true.  As Zig Ziglar said “You may not know what’s going to happen when you try, but if you do not try, NOTHING will happen.  So yes, it may be a little scary at first to take that step, but think of all the things that may not happen if you choose not to move forward.

  • You may not get to enjoy running and playing with your kids.
  • You may not ever get to “fit into” that seat on the roller coaster at the amusement park.
  • You may not get off medications that don’t really make you feel that much better.
  • You may not live a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle.

So my friend, take that first step!  How? I’m glad you asked. Fill your mind full of positive uplighting talk. Look up favorite quotes and put them up to see around your house or at the office. #4 Have a Routine

As much as you want to sleep in and eat whatever you want in sight while away or anytime really, you need to make every effort to try to keep some sort of routine. I remember before I implemented this morning routine I would sleep to the last possible moment before I had to wake my kids to get ready for school.  I always felt frustrated and behind even before my day had even started, which always lead to anger and yelling with my kids.  It certainly wasn’t the best way to begin my day or my children’s day either.  Now my days start with peace because I am making time to get my mindset right before the day begins.

My routine begins each morning early with 5 steps;

5:20am – Wakeup-Wash face, brush teeth, put on my workout clothes

5:35am- Walk downstairs, take my morning pre-workout drink (message me for info about my favorite one), fill my water bottle.

5:40am- Devotion, prayer, and reading time

6:05am- WORKOUT

6:35am- Finish Morning routine with Affirmations

6:45sm- Wake my kids for the day

Even when my kids are not in school, I still keep to this basic routine even if I get a little later start.  Consistency is KEY to successful results.

#5 Fuel Your Body Properly

In addition to making sure you get enough water daily, I would recommend you also look at the nutrition you are putting into your body.  Food is fuel. It is there to help us have ENERGY and stay focused throughout.  t our busy days. If you are properly fueling your body with the nutrients it needs, you will naturally feel and look better. Often times, we use caffeine and sugar to give us that boost of energy we are looking for temporarily. However, hours later we crash and burn because those things do not give us what we need to have sustained energy.
